Jesús Manuel Corona, just a kid from Hermosillo.
Before she was a U.S. Olympian, Claressa Shields was just a kid from Flint.
We're all just a kid from somewhere.
"Every time I step onto the field, I'm turning my dreams to realities." -Jimmy Graham
We got the chance to interview Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham for the new chapter of the Powerade "Just a Kid" campaign. I shot and cut this piece, direction from Wayne Kasserman.
"What's it like to be young, black, and employed in Portland?"
The question, asked months ago by a friend, was too intriguing to let go. While I've made a fairly consistent effort to produce more of my own short films, I lacked a thesis statement to truly give my want a singular focus. I have that now; this will be the first in a semi-regular series, all improvised dialogue, looking at Portland through the eyes of people who look like me. This should be fun.
Happy Valentine's Day, from us, to you. ;)

Portland, Oregon rapper Mat Randol and I have known each other for a few years, but had never made a video. I shot, lit, colored, and edited this.
Directed by Adam Heathcott, we styled this video with a nod to Max Werner, specifically a bizarre, 1981 broadcast of his song "Rain in May." I shot and lit.
Everything gets a trailer now - including books - and they can be long. Why not be more direct? For his "All Too Well" EP, Portland artist Wingate and I created something short and sweet - a flash of mood and information, straight to the point. I shot, lit, and edited this piece.
